we awoke to rain this morning! it smells good, sounds good, feels good and looks good! we haven't had any real rain for over 2 months, in fact we have only had seven hundredths of an inch of rainfall in July and August. the second driest since 1967. in washington, when it rains, the temperature drops considerably, from 80 degrees and sunny, mid afternoon yesterday to 60 degrees and cloudy by last evening. from a balmy (lol) 60 degrees at night to a cold 47 degrees. our summer flowers and trees are heavy-laden with water, drooping and bending downward with leaves quietly bouncing as
our first plan was to take one last summer camping trip, up north to birch bay, one of our favorite places to camp. salt water breezes and woodsy camp sites. but since the rain was predicted, we reversed that idea. who wants to camp in that? not me!
we are planning on going to the fair on thursday, looks good, sunny and 70 degrees! yeah! it is our annual "closing of the summer" event. scones lemonade baked potatoes onion burgers nutty ice cream on a stick -yummm.
cows pigs chickens clydesdale's.
amazing wonder wipes wonder car wax wonder faucets - hmmm...i wonder.
at night; the lights ferris wheel roller coaster funhouse screaming yelling laughter going home; tired legs sleepy eyes full bellies content and happy
by the weeks end it will be back into the 80's and we still have to do the school shopping! geesh, where did the summer go? our nightly doggy walks have to be started earlier because the sun is setting at 8:30 now, the blackberries are juicy-ripe hanging heavily down, just wanting to be picked, and plopped in our mouths to be savored. maybe a bagful for pancakes and pie on our next walk? life is good.
when my dh gets home, we will be heading to costco to find a new chair for my computer and studio area ( lol, meaning my two desks, side by side in my dining room... some day, ho-hum). steve picked up a chair yesterday for me, but it is too tall - what is with that? it has the hydraulic thingy, but the lowest setting is too high! when i sit back, my feet are just barely flat on the floor, at the lowest setting!?! i cannot cross my legs and sit at my desks. and the arm rests are not padded enough. see this chair base? why so high off the floor?
for now, i best get back to work, i'm putting together a halloween book kit, so today, jess is going to follow the directions i wrote and see how long it will take and if the directions will really direct her!
