hi, hi! well, i didn't get this journal listed over the weekend like i had hoped, but, i did get our yard cleaned up and the pots planted- yea!
a really talented and thoughtful client sent me some pictures of what she created with one of these ephemera journals that she had purchased. it was wonderful to see the very dear book she created! it was filled with photos of her family, of days gone by, the vintage ephemera was the perfect backdrop, i am so excited over the idea, i'm putting together some for my family, i'll share some photos when i get a chance. here is the new ephemera journal #4, it is packed with goodies to work with. original ephemera ranging from 1873 up to the 1960's:
the outside cover is created from a page of an 1873 childrens book.
the dividers are index cards from the 1930's, i've left the # uncovered
on the backs. they are thick and sturdy, what has happened to the
quality of goods now-a-days? geesh, i bought some small index cards
from the store and they are so flimsy!
the inside from 1892 sheet music. the facing page is a vellum envelope
with the full alphebet squares(double-sided) of a 1930's game called "dig" .
a 1930's bingo card with pocket and a 1924 "rooks" playing card
on this page i have attached some vintage "contact bridge" score pad
and, on the reverse, some 1929 small ledger papers. you can refill
these papers with others in your stash, when these are filled. the
facing pages are from a victorian photo album "carte-de-visite" page.
these photo holders are thick. i have slipped some vintage playing
cards into them, they may be replaced with photos, pictures or
a pocket from an 1888 ledger book, re-purposed as a scrapbook in
the early 1900's, attaced with vintage buttons and lace.
a couple of book pages from the early 1900's
more of that 1892 sheet music.
a page from a 1920's medical dictionary. and facing, a pocket made
with a flashcard from the 1960's, with 1930's "first aid in out line"
pages tucked in the pocket.
some linen papers for journaling, added using small binder rings.
s&h green stamp pages from the 50's.
a sweet print from an 1888 childrens book
ancient goodies slipped into and atteached to a pocket created from
a 1920's band book cover.
another vintage ledger pocket with goodies
a pocket created from the cover of a 1916 ladies sunshine club
choice recipes book",with a page of "choice recipes tucked into

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. -Washington Irving
