Changes

Hello everyone, I have made a change, a really big change for me- I have closed my Etsy shop. The changes they are going through and have been going through do not suit me. I have been with them from the beginning in 2006, the same year that I started this blog. It was such a great concept; a handmade selling platform. They helped us grow into a great community with some say in how things worked. When they went public and sold out, things started to change. At first  I went along with the changes but now, sadly, things have changed too much for me. They have pushed too much control over the sellers and have added items that are not handmade nor acceptable to be on this platform. They have been changing some policies which are expected with a change of CEO's, but the way it's done is the problem; such as stating that if you don't start giving  "free" shipping then they will not promote your shop; well, free shipping is not free shipping the cost is just added onto your item. I prefer to let shoppers see what the cost of shipping really is sense it raises
every year. They took away our choice of how customers and sellers can make payments and now want sellers to have their bank accounts go through a third person company, stating something about protection from money laundering and  that they will shutter our accounts until we comply?? 

So, I may sell from my blog, I mean I can't stop creating and have enough supplies to put more journals together so...

I love sharing the journals I create and maybe inspiring others to make their own from scratch; so I will continue until I figure out if I want to sell from here with PayPal "Buy" buttons. Feedback would be good. Would you push that button? Let me know.

A Special Order

Hello everyone, thank you for dropping in, hope you're all doing well. I invite you to to look at a special order I have completed and am listing in my Etsy shop.

             
This cover was created from an 1904 book called "Beverly of Graustark"

                                
Trinket cluster with a pearl button, a key, an "In my heart" metal charm, and a little heart charm attached to a tag with a metal laundry pin which is attached to a the dyed vintage seam binding ribbon tied to a sturdy O-wire binding.

             

There is a name plate here with a metal page turn on this divider. Remember each page is a full pocket; this one has a half circle opening most are just flat. you may add trinkets and memories on the dividers with little pins, paper clips, staples thread,  ribbons or anything you can come up with. Or maybe just write the memories or notes on the pages themselves. Don't forget to add photos too. All papers are acid free so your photos have a safe place to live in this journal. Or you can glue copies of photos right on the pages and tags if you wish.

Three bottom pockets one is paper lace and a side pocket with a tag slipped in and a large tag tucked behind the paper lace pocket.

             

There are two pockets here one is the border flowers and the other is a top pocket behind the border. There is aa twill page turn on this divider.

             

Three side pockets one has fancy punched edging.

             

Three side pockets two with fancy punched edging, a fussy cut butterfly on the edge of  the top pocket and another pocket on top with a small tag tucked in. There is also a "Love" charm hanging from the leather page turn. 

             

On this divider is a large pocket with flap and ribbon closure. You my also slip a note or photo behind this pocket into the secret opening on the right side.

             

This divider has two top pockets and a metal page turn.

             

A 1930's bingo card with two top pockets with a strip pocket and tiny paperclip on top of those pockets.

             

Backside 2 strip pockets one is paper lace with a tag slipped in. There is a metal "number" page turn attached.

             

The last divider has a side/top pocket created from a large tag attached to the page with 3 eyelets and a pretty ribbon. Another metal page turn is attached here.

"Field Notes" A New Pocket Journal

Back again, it's been a busy week on TypePad. This "Field Notes"  journal is a new portfolio type  but with a fun twist- a cascading centerpiece with a 30 page notebook tucked in the back, also beautiful papers from Stamperia. This is the  beginning of the journal with a pocket on the front inside and the first tier to the right of the pocket(that strip with a butterfly attached on top and a squirrel tag attached to the bottom backside of the strip).

I will call each layer of the cascade part a tier. Each tier has a front and back side.

The last tier back side with the note book next to it. There are many tags to journal and hold more tags.

I love the layers this create and there is a lot of room to add notes, and photos, and journal too.

This journal has 4 dividers which are also full page pockets with top openings, embellished with more pockets to hold all those photos, lists, postcards, stamps, notes, and memorabilia from trips or even from your daily life.

             

                                      Divider 1 Back Side

There is a large envelope on this page with a top opening with a large tag with a pull tucked under the large envelope, and another  large tag clipped to the opening of the large envelope.

Each divider in this journal has a vintage onion paper facing page and a metal, leather, velvet or twill page turn tab. Each page is hand-inked and stamped, and each tag is double-sided with space for extra journaling or photos.

The correspondence page

Instead of a full page pocket, this page is divided in two with a half circle cut opening on top and a mail slit in the middle. It is embellished a "clock pocket" where you can slip papers in around the edges and a strip pocket where you can stash more goodies. There is 1 top/side opening pocket on the bottom of the page with 3 more tags slipped in here one being held with a tiny paperclip.

This page is ready to keep those stamps, addresses, postcards and other mailing items for your trip all together in one place. You could clip a pen on the page or on the cover to always have handy.

Two side pockets here, one is paper lace. There is a top pocket and a tag with a twill pull slipped in, and a Tim Holtz  word token and  key hanging from the pocket with tea dyed string, a "Bon Voyage strip pocket with another tag snuggled undertone strip attached to the top pocket.

Two side pockets one is a suitcase stack cutout with a strip pocket across  the bottom with 3 tiny tags tucked in. There is a "Paris" tag hanging from the top.

Two bottom pockets and a top pocket attached with little copper brads two tags rest in these pockets and 2 tiny tags hanging with a metal number tag.

With a bottom pocket and "Traveler" tag on top with little tags tucked in. There is a large tag tucked in the larger pocket.

Each divider is created from premium double-sided papers, which are embellished with pockets, and a combination of paper lace, brads, tags, tokens, paper clips, metal, and velvet page tab turners. Each divider is also a full page pocket with top opening - lots of room for storing those secret or special items that you don't want showing or that will not fit on the pages. 

               

                                       Divider 1 Backside

There are 2 side pockets on this page.

Each facing page after each divider is a vintage onion paper with an original. Every page is hand inked and stamped.

 Most tags are double-sided with blank backs perfect for journaling or adding a photo.

The Correspondence page.

This page is divided in two 2 top pockets with sideband top  openings. Both top pockets also have sweet cutouts adding 2 more tiny pockets all holding a total of 7 little tags. This page is  just right for holding mailing lists, stamps and envelopes.

               

                                         Divider 2 Backside

There is 1 side pocket here with a transit ticket top pocket holding 2 tiny tags. There is a tiny tag clipped to a slide in pocket on top. There is also a large tag tucked in the side pocket held with a tiny paper clip. I must say this albums embellishments , which I love, are all from the Tim Holts Christmas collections.

With a large bottom pocket and a small top pocket holding a tag with a winter scene and sweet sentiment slipped in.

3 side pockets and a top pocket crated from a mistletoe cutout and "25" bubble brad. there is also a snowflake brad on the top of this page where you could hang a trinket.
