so, a few things have been going on here- always all at once, i have not been idle. lol. i've been working on several special orders including an altered book and a request for an altered book submission to a local college gallery. in the middle of it all, last week, after just 7 days of sending off the application, which of course, in itself was a major distraction, jess received a letter of acceptance to the college she really wanted to get into. yeah! we all had to venture down the freeway at 6:00 pm, to seattle, and walk the campus. thank gosh it was a beautiful night! it's a beautiful campus too-
seattle pacific university est. 1891.
the school of education building from all angles (except the back) lol-
along with her letter of acceptance were 2 scholarships for the university- a direct transfer degree scholarship and a huge transfer honors scholar award for her grades. i mention this because jess is an unrelenting, focused student that never tells anyone about her achievements. after graduating less than a year ago from high school, she is entering spu in the fall, armed with her associates in arts and sciences degree with high honors, as a junior, where she will be working on her double major in elementary and special education. i told you she is relentless. hey jess, i just noticed the "european quarter" oohlala that sounds good. maybe now you can relax just a bit, and enjoy some campus life! i love you jess, you've done darn good!
anyway, we had to travel back down to spu a couple of days later, this time to visit the bookstore and purchase the appropriate gear, geesh! yes, i got a spu "mom" decal for my bug window... we also stopped at nscc and and dropped off my contributions to the "book arts" exhibition at the art gallery. since i didn't have an altered book sitting around home and no time to create one, i took a storybook journal, brenda anderson, the curator of exhibitions, really liked the little rosies so i took those also-
brenda did a very nice display- center front under glass-nice! steve just had to get in the picture when i turned down his offer to take one of me.
now, on with more special orders. i will be posting pictures tomorrow, of the altered book i have finished if you would like to take a peek back. thanks everyone, enjoy your evening! -rebecca
