"winter wonderland" journal

well, thanksgiving has come and gone and what a lovely day it was, my hopes are that you have had a good day of giving thanks too. i have listed few new things in my etsy shop including this winter journal:

this little journal is in the form of my storybook journals, the snowman band on the front cover can can hold a little treasure that slips underneath. the papers are from paper loft and rusty pickle.

             

                                            first divider front

is the name plate with a full page tag that removes from the top. each divider page has an opening at the top for extra goodies to be stashed.

this side has 3 bottom pockets and and a paper snowflake with a small acrylic snowflake center. there is a page of velum at the beginning of each section after the divider and each page in that section has a a stamped image across the top, bottom or in a corner.

             

                                          the second divider front

has 3 bottom pockets with a little snowman pocket attached to the front of the last pocket.

             

                                 the back of the second divider

has 2 bottom pockets and a spiral clip.

             

                                           the third divider front

is the "mail" page with the top pocket going only half way down the page and the mail slit going the rest of the page. the running reindeer is a pocket with another pocket strip attached to the bottom. so with four different sized pockets there is a place for envelopes, stamps, and postcards.

has 2 pockets and a clip for little treasures.

the front of this vintage bingo card has 1 bottom pocket with a tag tucked inside and a snowflake cutout attached to the front.

this side has 1 side pocketcreated with a vintage page from a childrens song book.

with 3 little handmade coin envelopes to keep little secrets in.

with 40+ pages - that's 80 total pages-front and back, 4 divider pages with a of 26 pockets and a little slide pocket on the front cover, this little journal can be stuffed to the brim with winter activities, events and celebrations. i did forget to add the 1930's bingo card picture, geesh thats two more pockets! i will picture that tomorrow(later today, actually) and add it to this blog post.  done.

a new storybook journal "fun at school"

hi all, well as the days have gotten colder, i have gotten busier listing some items in my etsy shop. last summer we went to a new flea market and i found a few things that i wanted, finally! but the catch, as there always is one- these items were in a box with a bunch of other ephemera that i will not be able to use. so, on one of the 5 hot, sunny days we did have around here, meg and i got ourselves some lemonade and carted everything out to our lawn swing and slowly sorted through this box. as i started, i could see that this person, i believe a female, took great care in saving snippets of time, there were greeting cards of all sorts from when she was young, through i guess, her grand kids or grand nieces and nephews. there were newspapers and magazines with events through the years, or just cutouts, neatly dated and placed with care in an archival sleeve, new home plans and a log book of all the happenings each week as that home progressed. just a few photographs, but many pamphlets, menus, and receipts from trips that she took. it was quite an adventure seeing this ladies keepsakes and i felt a bit sad wondering why no family members felt compelled to keep as a memento, some of these little carefully saved items that must have meant something to this dear person. geesh, here i go, anyway, i have finally been able to gather and package some of these items, hoping someone will be able to get a use from them. i couldn't just toss them, this person went through so much care in keeping them, but then i am a saver, and a sap for memorabilia. i still have my dear mothers avon collection sitting under my desk, i've sorted it, tagged it and inventoried it, but, i don't know where to go with it, too many little items, really not worth much, but mom kept em and she wasn't a saver, so i guess they were important to her and i just can't donate them, maybe for christmas i'll send them to my sister so she can sort them, tag them and inventory them for 10 more years! watch out polly!

so as i was saying, i have listed a few odd- for- me things in my shop  and it has taken me weeks! glad it's done, odd they are in my shop but there they be. tonight,  i will also be listing this new storybook  journal in my etsy shop called "fun at school" that would be ideal for either a teacher or student:

the covers for this journal were created from a 1935 story book called, as you can see, "every day fun". there are 50 pages of linen, vintage lined(from the aforementioned box), sketch and watercolor papers.

              

i really like the endpapers and thought i would add a few of the original pages from the book  into the journal.  facing the end paper is the title page. i have placed a book page after each divider page instead of using the velum as i usually do. 

              

the first divider is the bookplate with a full page pocket opening on the top of the page with an attached piece of ruler paper you may slip a little something behind. on the page facing the bookplate we meet miss. allen, the first grade teacher.

              

the back of the first divider has two side pockets. there are 5 double-sided divider pages designed with lots of pockets to hold all those papers that you need to keep track of. each divider will have a metal or fabric page turner and will divide the different papers used in this journal. we meet jack on the page facing.

              

the second divider front has 1 side pocket. the papers i have used in this journal are from the wonderful graphic 45's abc primer collection. they are double-sided heavy card-stock papers with beautiful colors and graphics! i love that graphic 45!

              

the back of the second divider has 2 side pockets. the brass page turner looks odd here, not sure why, the light reflecting maybe? weird, looks like it's covered in see through paper.

              

this third divider is the got mail divider. the top of the page has a cutout to easily stash items in but only a half page, the bottom of the page has a mail slot to add more items, envelopes perhaps, with a large pocket on the bottom front and a littler pocket on top of that, for stamps or whatever. so, 4 pockets on this page. i started making these pages for traveling  journals and kinda just incorporated them into all of the journals.

              

the back of the third divider has has three bottom pockets. looks like jack and mary jane are getting down to business.

              

this, the front of the fourth divider has 2 side pockets and a green velvet page turner.

              

the back has 2 bottom pockets and a scoop opening for easy access to the page pocket. remember, each divider is a whole page pocket with top openings- did i mention that? i think i did.

              

the fifth divider front has three bottom pockets with a little pocket on top of the bottom pocket.

              

the back of the fifth divider has 2 coin pockets to stash little goodies in.
