baby journal "our baby girl's story"

ohmygosh it's another beautiful day here! the sun is streaming through the windows and it's a balmy 40 degrees. sunny and crispy cold- perfect winter weather in washington.

another storybook journal to list in my etsy shop, this time for a little girl's first year firsts. the wonderful papers are from the near last of my stash made by daisy d's. when i heard they were going out of business it made my heart sad so i went out and bought as much as i could find. they made such wonderful vintage papers.

anyway here goes:

             

                                  cover of "our baby girl's story"

the covers for this storybook journal were created from a 1930 children's reader storyland which measures 4.5" X 7.75". it  has 47 pages which include a combination of vellum, lined writing, sketch, linen, and watercolor papers, on which you may journal, sketch, draw, paint, and glue. the cover has a little trinket cluster and title tag attached to the o-wire.

              divider 1-  book plate page for your name and date

the facing page is the original title page from this 1930 children's reader. each divider page is a full page pocket with a top opening. the page turn tab on the first divider is a printed ribbon "sweet baby girl".

there are 3 hand stitched bottom pockets with the first 3 monthly growth cards tucked in. there is also a little tag attached to the bottom pocket to create another tiny pocket to slip treasures in.

there are 2 bottom pockets on this page embellished with paper lace and the next 3 months growth cards slipped in. the page turn tabs on this and the rest of the dividers are vintage seam binding ribbons tied through eyelets.

this page has 2 side pockets with a double-sided hang tag. each page in this journal is hand inked and stamped.

this page has 3 bottom pockets embellished with little a vintage button and tiny "giggle" tag.

this page has 2 bottom pockets with a hand-sewn side opening pocket attached to the front of the bottom pocket and the next 3 months growth cards tucked in.

there are 2 strip pockets on the front of this last divider with a wonderful layered paper flower(in a kit i purchased from etsy at  rockpaperandscissors) attached to the pocket.  the last 3 months growth cards are  attached to the pocket with a little clip.

there are 3 coin envelope pockets attached to this page with vintage button closures.

mini album "life is beautiful"

hi, hi! so, i am back tonight with a little mini album here that i am calling "life is beautiful"  inspired by these wonderful, bright papers that i have used from sasafras lass. i have had this collection for quite some time and doodled around with it, but only last week came up with this little file folder idea. i received a little 7gypsies portfolio album from one of my lovely lady shop owners and decided to duplicate that idea and create this:

with vintage seam binding ribbon binding and an elastic closure

there are 3 flaps- one on top, one on bottom and one on the right side. the side flap folds to the outside of the album cover.

the top and bottom flaps fold to the inside, over the 3 little file folders.

                                                   pages 1 and 2

page 1 is the inside of the portfolio cover and page 2 is the front of the first file folder. each of these pages have 2 bottom pockets. the little decorative fringes on the top of the bottom pocket are loose on the bottom edges so they can hold a little note or picture under them. there is a double-sided tag slipped in the first page pocket. on page 1.

             

                                                   pages 3 and 4

 these pages are the inside of the first folder with 2 pockets on each page- the flowered paper strip and the printed ribbon serve as pockets. there are 2 double-sided tags here.

             

                                                 pages 5 and 6

the backside of folder one and the frontside 9of folder 2 with 1 bottom pocket on each page and 1 double-sided tag on page 5 with a tiny pocket on top of the bottom pocket and a little photo album attached to the bottom pocket on page 6.

 there are six- 1.5" X 1.5" pages tied with a bow.

inside folder number 2 there are 4 pockets total with 2 double-sided tags.

the backside of of folder 2 and the front side of folder 3 there are 2 photo mats on these pages with the sweet owls on the branches serving as photo holders. there is room for journaling or photos on the bottom of each page.

             

                                            pages 11 and 12

there are 2 bottom pockets on both of these pages.

             

                                              pages 13 and 14

these last 2 pages are the backside of the third folder and the inside back of the cover. page 13 has another little booklet with 9 pages for photos and a rick rack pocket holding a double-sided tag. on page 14 the owl creates a large pocket.
