christmas storybook journal "merry"

so, i didn't get much sleep last night, that's okay, i'll cozy in sometime today. being a night owl most of my life does get me a bit mixed up, but there is always time to sleep and not enough time to create.

here is my first christmas book of the season called "merry" it's been created from premium double-sided cardstock papers by october afternoon. it's a line that actually came out last season but i do love the line.

this storybook journal was created from a 1940 easy growth in reading school book called "i know a secret". it measures 5.5" X 8" and has 50+ hand stamped pages which include a combination of vellum, vintage lined writing,vintage linen, sketch, and vintage cotton papers, on which you may journal, sketch, draw, paint, and glue. 

                                

 this little trinket cluster is attached to the name tag which is tied to the sturdy o-wire with vintage seam binding ribbon.

i have created 4 double-side divider pages which are also full page pockets with top openings. each divider is embellished with pockets, and may have a combination of paper lace,  brads, clips, cut outs to create pockets, seam binding ribbons and tags. each divider page also has metal, leather or velvet  page tab turners.

the correspondence page. this page is divided in half with top openings to hold postcards, notes, stamps and such. there is a pocket on the top half with a printed vintage telegram image tag tucked inside and on the bottom half a strip pocket with a santa tag to tuck stamps under. a candycane striped paper clip is clipped on the pocket.

new travel journal "vagabond"

hi, back again with a couple more journals to post, really catching up now, lol. the first will be a travel journal i've  titled "vagabond". it was created from a 1935 poetry book called "vagabond's house". it measures 5" X 7.5" and has 50+ hand stamped pages which include a combination of vellum, vintage lined writing,vintage linen, sketch, and vintage graph papers, on which you may journal, sketch, draw, paint, and glue.

the cover of this book is wonderful! it has silver metallic images with a deep blue background a bit darker than what is showing.

with a library pocket embellished with a cutting from a newspaper about the author making an appearance. this article was tucked inside the book. the facing page has a hand written name and address.

2 side pockets, one of paper lace, a vintage lace strip pocket which you can attach tiny items to with pins or string and even slip a something under it. there are 2 small hang tags attached with a tiny safety pin

 this is a 1930's bingo card with 2 bottom pockets and a tag slipped in. oops, i can see i forgot to place paper inside the page turner tab, geesh. i will finish that before sending!

i hope someone is planning a trip and this will come in handy, but remember, you can make one yourself too! it just takes a discarded book, doesn't have to be vintage, just NO first additions, paper, and binding. you could drill holes in the covers, paper punch the papers and use binder rings or do a hand sewn binding if you don't have access to  my favorite binding machine- the zutter. it's fun! going to bed, but i do have a christmas album that i will be posting tomorrow. i will also be listing the baby girl journal "baby song" that i posted here . goodnight, and thank you for visiting! -rebecca

"Childhood Memories" a New Altered StoryBook Journal

i decided to list something a bit different;  it's a 6" X 8.25" basic reader from 1951 that i have added pockets and papers to. it creates an album journal that will hold lots of photos, memorabilia and places to journal. i have taken a lot of pictures so grab some coffee and get comfortable, this may take a while. i am not real happy with the way the pictures turned out, it was quite difficult because of the size of the book and tight binding that kept wanting to close, geesh. as a result some of hte pictures look crooked or odd, lol.

 well that's all there is, what do you think? i had fun putting this together, it's been done since summer, i just couldn't think of a name for it, and taking and editing photgraghs is just so boring and time consuming. but it is finished now- yeah!

this new halloween journal "mayhem" was created from a 1930's children's story reader called "the new winston third reader" which measures 5.25" X  7 3/8" and has 60+ hand stamped pages which include a combination of vellum, vintage lined writing,vintage linen, sketch, and vintage graph papers, on which you may journal, sketch, draw, paint, and glue.

most of the top openings to the full page pockets are straight but some, as on this page, have a little cutout.

hi there all. well, believe it or not, i have returned to creating my storybook journals, yea! finally i have been sitting down and getting to business. i know it's been a long time and it does feel good.
